About Marit
Marit’s Story
Marit Appeldoorn, LICSW, RPT-S is the founder of Reflective Play Therapy Supervision and a nationally recognized leader in play therapy supervision, supervisor training, and therapist development. Her integrative, playful, and collaborative approach supports supervisees across developmental stages and emphasizes the supervisory relationship as a primary vehicle for growth. Marit has worked in the children’s mental health field since 1996 and brings more than twenty-five years of experience as a clinical supervisor and local and national trainer.
Through Reflective Play Therapy Supervision, Marit provides individual and group play therapy supervision, mentorship and coaching for clinical and play therapy supervisors, and support for therapists navigating professional transitions.
Marit believes effective supervision is both developmental and transformational. By fostering presence, curiosity, and connection, she helps therapists strengthen clinical confidence, deepen reflective capacity, and sustain meaningful, ethical play therapy practice in service of children and families.
